Charnell Howard,83 , of Charnell Lane in the Bridge Creek Community, Tiger, Ga. died Saturday April 11, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Towns County, Ga. June 8, 1925, He was the son of the late William Marion Howard and Dolly Nichols Howard. He had spent most of his life in Rabun County. He was the widower of Ruth Watts Howard. He was retired from the U.S. Forest Service and was a member of the Rocky Grove Baptist Church and was a member of the AARP and a U.S Army Veteran.
He was the last member of his immediate family. Five brothers and two sisters, preceded him in death; Odell, D.L., Julius, Henry and William Marion Howard, Jr. and Maybell Watts and Flornell Norton.
He is survived by one son; Tim Howard of Tiger and by one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Clifford Gragg of Tiger, Ga. Several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday April 14, 2009 at the Rocky Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Wolfrey , Rev. John Gipson and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to Rocky Grove Baptist Church at 6:00 P.M. Monday April 13, 2009 , where family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M.
The family is at the home on Charnell Lane in the Bridge Creek Community,Tiger.
