James Wilson

September 16, 1927 — May 4, 2017

James Don Wilson went to be with the Lord Thursday May 4, 2017, after faithfully following Him in this life for almost 90 years.

Jim was born in Dade, Missouri on September 16, 1927, to parents Minnie Bowman and Paul Wilson. After selling their family farm in Missouri, they moved to Moore Haven, Florida where Jim grew up a neighbor to his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Margie Colleen Crum. The two were married in 1949 and faithfully loved each other and their family for over 50 years of marriage, raising two sons James Paul Wilson, and David Kent Wilson.

Jim served his country as a Merchant Marine in World War II, and later enjoyed a successful career with the Boy Scouts of America as an executive over the Southeastern region. He was a long time member of the Gideons International ministry and a founding member of the Valley Community Church in Tate City, Georgia. When he retired, he and Margie moved to their mountain home in Clayton, Georgia and enjoyed spending time with their family and traveling the country together in their motorhome.

Jim Wilson is survived by his two sons and their wives, Paul and Nancy Wilson, and David and Isabel Wilson; three grandsons, Isaac Wilson (wife Stacey Wilson), Daniel Wilson (wife Sarah Wilson), and Joshua Wilson; three granddaughters, Melissa Wilson, Rebecca Cotton (husband John Cotton), and Lillian Wilson; and five great-granddaughters Kayla Page, Courtney Page, Aubrey Hutsell, Bonnie Cotton, and Margaret Cotton. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Margie Wilson, his second wife Lois Erickson, his brother Elbridge Woodrow Wilson, and his grandson Jonathan Wilson.

Jim’s loving guidance and leadership will be deeply missed by his family and his community. The family invites all who knew and loved him to come celebrate his life on Monday May 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at Jim’s home Church, the Valley Community Church in Tate City (2180 Nichols Lane Clayton, GA). Officiated by Pastor Norman Allision., Pastor Jonathan Penland will conduct the graveside servive Burial will follow at the Tate City Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Monday May 8, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. (the service hour). At the Church. The family is at their respective residences.
