John Rollin (J.R.) Lunsford 88, Clayton, Georgia

John Rollin (J.R.) Lunsford, 88, of Clayton, Georgia died Monday night November 14, 2011 in Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens, Georgia.
Born in Rabun County September 25, 1923 he was the son of the late Millard and Jean Holcomb Lunsford. He was a boiler technician with Burlington Industries and was a Deputy for Rabun County Sheriff’s Dept several years ago. He was a member of the Battle Branch Baptist Church.
J.R. was preceded in death by a son; Rollin Lunsford; by two brothers, Homer Lunsford and Willard “Short” Lunsford and by four sisters; Bonnie Dixon, Clarcie Wilbanks, Evilee Bramblett and Betty Lunsford and is survived by one son Perry Lunsford and his wife Jan of Clayton, by one daughter, Lynn Henderson and her husband, Albert of Waycross, Georgia. Two brothers, Rev. Waymond Lunsford and Sandy Lunsford of Clayton, Georgia. One Sister, Dorothy Carnes of Tiger, Georgia., six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be at Battle Branch Baptist Church Friday November 18, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. conducted by Rev. Madison McCrackin and Rev. Mike Wilbanks. Burial will be in Rabun Memory Park.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to Battle Branch Baptist Church Thursday November 17 2011 where family will receive friends from 6 To 8 P.M.
The family is at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Jan Lunsford on East Gate Terrace Lane in the Five Points Community, Clayton.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
