Robert Massee

Robert Dewitt “Bob” Massee, 83, of Tiger, GA., died Friday July 18, 2014 at Mountain Lakes Medical Center in Clayton.

He was born in Atlanta, GA., October 2, 1930, the son of the late Richard Drew Massee, Sr., and Mary Dickson Massee. He had lived in Tiger, where he nurtured for a lifetime, the apple orchard he loved, “Tiger Mountain Orchards”. He was an apple grower and farmer. He was a former mayor of Tiger (youngest mayor at that time), a board member of Rabun Co. Farm Bureau. He was a member of The Georgia Apple Growers Association; a member of the North American Bramble Association. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of the American Legion and was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Massee and Richard Drew Massee, Jr., and a sister, Betty Massee Allred, and is survived by his wife, Alice Lawrence Masseee, three sons James Drew Boyd (Lynn), Sterling Robert Massee (Tina), Adam Dixon (Nicole), one stepson, Chris Lawrence, four daughters, Ouida Ann Massee, Emelyn Alice Massee (Butch), Robin Massee Watts (Skip), Melody Massee Henderson (Tim), seventeen grandchildren, Phillip, Drew, James, George, Allison, Janine, Derek, Josh, Jennifer, Chris, Heather, Zach, Zeke, Madison, Keldon, Clayton and Ava. Six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held Tuesday evening, July 22, 2014 at the new Hunter Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00pm. A visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7P.M. (the funeral hour). The family is at their respective residences.
