Alexandre "Alex" Beth Giovino

Alexandre (Alex) Beth Giovino, age 79, of Lakemont, Georgia passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on Monday May 15, 2023.

Alex was born on October 5, 1943, in Bronx, NY to the late Robert and Rose (Constantine) Wallace. At a young age, Alix and her family moved to Amityville, NY where she met her husband of 60yrs Albert (Al) Giovino at the local movie theatre where they both worked. Alex and Al married in 1963 and resided in Amityville, where they had their 4 children. The family eventually moved to Lauderhill, Fl, then Fort Lauderdale where Alex worked for Bendix Avionics. Having visited the Lake Burton area of Georgia with her husband on vacation, Alex & Al fell in love with Rabun County and decided to move to Lakemont in 1991. While living in Lakemont, Alex worked for Traves Real Estate & Remax Real Estate and opened both Ingles and Walmart when the stores came to Clayton, Ga. Alex was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church for over 27 years where she served as treasurer and volunteered as often as she could. Alex enjoyed working on crafts, most especially stained-glass work and knitting, she was also an avid tennis player in her younger years.

Alex is survived by her husband Albert (Al) Giovino Sr., her children Albert Giovino (Lisa), Erik Giovino (Melinda), Rory Giovino (Jennifer) and Jillian Giovino, her 10 grandchildren Adam Giovino, Alec Giovino, Logan Giovino, Troy Giovino, Hayden Giovino, Ryan Giovino, Emily Giovino, Nicholas Giovino, Mario Giovino, & Gianna Giovino. Additionally, she is survived by her 5 siblings, Roderick Wallace (Jeanne), Kelly Wallace (Dee), Victoria O’Shea (Sean), Robert Wallace, and Siobhan Wallace, as well as her many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 20, 2023, at 11:00 am at Flat Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00am-11:00am, prior to the service. Interment to follow at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Flat Creek Baptist Church’s General Fund in her honor. Donations may be mailed to 1433 Low Gap Rd, Lakemont, Ga 30552.
