Helen Elizabeth “Betsy” Gibson-Roper, age 83, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Betsy was born on January 16, 1943, in Elmira, New York, to the late Arcolus Welling Wyckoff and Helen Elizabeth Hamilton Wyckoff. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Gerald Roper.

For 35 of those years, she faithfully served the patients and families at Angel Medical Center, touching countless lives along the way. Her calling to care for others extended far beyond her profession, as Betsy had a true servant’s heart and a deep love for the community she called home. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, whether traveling together, shopping, or enjoying a day getting her nails done.

In addition to her husband, Betsy is survived by her son, David Sanborn, and his wife, Cindy; her daughter, Candi Sanborn Worley, and her husband, Anthony; her grandchildren, Katie Markey (Adam), Joshua Carver, Justin Carver (Marissa), Sidney Sanborn (Chris), and Charlie Sanborn Mullins (Matt); her great-grandchildren, Ali Markey and Marley Carver; her two sisters, Wendy Mosher (Marvin) and Amy Fields (Bill); one niece, Leslie; and two nephews, Ben and Raymond.

Betsy was preceded in death by her first husband of 21 years, Charlie Gibson.
