Betty Jones Petty

February 3, 1931 — June 2, 2025

Clayton, GA

Betty Jones Petty was ninety-four when she passed from earthly life to eternal life on June 2, 2025 at her beloved home on Lake Burton. She retired to Clayton, Ga from East Point, Ga in 1992 after serving twenty years for Delta Air Lines.

Betty was born on February 3,1931 to Inez Appling Jones and Thomas Leslie Jones in Atlanta, Ga. She is preceded by them, as well as her sister Kathryn and brothers Thomas Leslie Jr. and Michael Alan. Betty put her whole heart into everything she did, whether it was maintaining a lovely home, helping her family in so many practical ways, or working in administrative roles at Norris Candy, West Fulton Highschool, and eventually Delta. She gave it her all in every facet of her life, but the role which she most enjoyed was thriving as a fun-loving grandmother. In the last year of her life, her faith in her Savior became evident to all who heard her say that she was ready to meet Jesus in Heaven. Her unforgettable presence will be greatly missed by all of us who knew her so well and loved her.

Betty is survived by her children: Susan Petty Craddock, Phyllis Petty, and Chris Petty; grandchildren: Joshua Craddock, Jimmy Craddock, Joseph Craddock, Taylor Petty, Ryan Petty, and Sally Petty Housholder; great-grandchildren: Maddi, Luke, Maverick, Lexi, and Nori.

A memorial service will be held in Betty’s honor at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, Ga at 11:00 Am on Saturday, June 21, 2025 where her ashes will be laid to rest alongside several beloved members of her family.
