Bill Gordon died on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 11:05 am, following a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.
One thing that seemed to run through Most of the Gordon family was a genuine love for music. Dad played the guitar and sang ever since he could remember. He traveled over North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and just about anywhere he went, and for many years, he loved and played and sang Country music. However, after he got saved and left the cult, "The Worldwide Church of God," Dad's desire and love of music didn't change, but his style did. He dedicated the rest of his life to Gospel Music. He and his band members would play at any church that would ask. His true Passion was for the folks in Nursing homes. It became his mission to lift their spirit and give hope to the suffering, sharing the hope found in the love of God.
Born in Rabun County, GA, on February 20, 1937, he was the son of the late James Richard "Jim" and Dessie Thomas Gordon. He served in the U.S. Army and married the late Inez Cantrell Gordon. He worked for the Toccoa Manufacturing Company until relocating to Greenville, South Carolina, in 1971, after which he worked for The Aim Corporation until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jacky Gordon, Joe Gordon and Bob Gordon, both of Clayton; Lee Gordon of Paris, Tennessee; and sisters Louellen Prince and Annie Taylor of Anderson, SC; Viola Hunter of Fayetteville; Mary McGaha of Franklin, NC; Estella Littleton of Toccoa; Hazel Davidson of Clarksville; Ella Sue Trotman of Baldwin; and Jean Christy of Gainesville.
