Wednesday, April 3,2024, Jesus took our Mom, Grandma, Mema’s hand and led her home. She was truly an extraordinary woman. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through the family she left behind. We all carry a piece of her heart with us. It is amazing how she never seemed to run out of those pieces.
She had a special gift of making everyone feel like family, and with the love she poured out, she created a family that enjoys being together. A family who cheers you on when you are winning and carries you when you are not. A family where cousins feel more like siblings because of her.
She showed us the importance of showing up and loving unconditionally, even when things get tough. She showed us the love of Jesus that she passed through generations, and it is ingrained in who we are and who we were taught to be. She taught us how to fill our houses with friends who become family, and to never turn someone away.
She taught us how to become friends with the cashier at the grocery store and the waitress or waiter at the restaurant. And how a stick of butter can fix most meals. We have never met anyone who knew her who didn’t love her. She was as close to an angel as you can get.
Mom, we will continue to carry on the beautiful legacy of love that you left behind. Sharing a warm smile and the love of Jesus with everyone that we meet. Until we meet again…
Irene was recognized by all for her warmth, compassion, love, exceptional cooking and always had a beautiful smile to follow.
She is survived by her children, Becky Sterling (Tom) of Switzerland, FL, Mike Livingston (Patricia) of Switzerland, FL, and Lisa Paul (Peter) of Mountain City, GA; grandchildren, Eddie Zokus (Denise), Melissa Guerrieri (Adam), Jessica Arnett (Dave), Kristopher Paul (Christine), Krista Hirn (Boyd), and Kody Paul; great grandchildren, Elijah LeBlanc, Sam Zokus, Jesse Zokus (Kylee), Adam Guerrieri, Summer Guerrier, Jake Arnett, Brie Arnett, Davi Arnett, Cooper Paul, Charlie Paul, Kade Paul, Myles Hirn, and Lydia Hirn; great-great grandchildren, Kia Zokus, Everett Zokus, Grace Zokus and Kynzie LeBlanc; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law with a heartfelt thanks to Donna Young and Stacy Owens for outstanding caregiving.
