Dexter Haines Allen, age 79, of Clayton, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Allen was born on August 6, 1945, in Pekin, Illinois, to the late Dean and Treva Lingenfelter Allen. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sherilyn Bogle and sister, Pam Barker.

Dexter was a talented master carpenter and devoted craftsman, known for his skillful hands and keen eye for detail; he spent his life remodeling homes and creating beautiful pieces through woodworking. Whether restoring old spaces or building something from scratch, he took pride in every project he touched. His work was not just a job—it was a true expression of his creativity and care. Dexter was a faithful member of Clayton Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Allen, also known as “Mrs. Dexter”; son-in-law, Jim Bogle; brother and sister-in-law, Daryl Allen (Jan); brother-in-law, Ray Barker; grandchildren and their spouses: Tiffany Thomas (Jonathon), Amanda Butler (Stephen), Rachel Boesch (Samuel), and Jared Bogle (Emiline); and eight great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Clayton Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Thompson officiating.
