Dr . Diedrich O.( Deke) Beusse, Jr . 76, of Lakemont , Ga. died Saturday September 20, 2008 at his home .
Born and raised in Atlanta ,Ga. He was the son of the late D.O Beusse and Mary Pennington Beusse. He was the husband of Carole Ficken Beusse .
He was graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in 1958 .He established and operated a small animal practice (Trail Animal Clinic ) in Orlando, Florida for 23 years . He was also a Contract Veterinarian for Sea World of Florida for 30 years . He later became Professor and Director of the Marine Mammal Medicine Department at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville , Florida. He served in this postion for 3 years before moving to Rabun County in 2004 .
He was a contract Veterinarian with the U.S Navy Marine Mammal Program in Kings Bay, Georgia until early this year (2008) .
He was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church for the past four years .
He is survived by his wife, Carole Ficken Beusse of Lakemont ,Ga. One son , Doby Beusse of Orlando, Florida , Daughter and Son in – law , Laura B. McCue and James McCue of Clayton , Ga. One sister , Betty McCool of Roswell , Ga.
A” Celebration of Life Service” will be held at the Clayton Baptist Church Monday September 29, 2008 at 11:00 O’clock AM.A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Pine Castle ,Orlando , Florida at 11:00 O'clock AM Saturday October 18 , 2008 .
Family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials in Deke’s honor be made to the Ministry Activities Center (MAC), 87 South Church Street , Clayton , Georgia .30525 .
