Doris “Dolly” Bleckley , 85 , of Greenwood , S.C. died March 1 , 2009 at the Greenwood Hospice House . Mrs. Bleckley was born June 6 , 1923 in Newton Higlands , MA. And was the daughter of Bessie Cozens Cole and William Morton Cole. She was a graduate of South Broward High School in Hollywood , Fl. and was retired from the Anderson County School system where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at McCants Junior High School in Anderson , S.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband , Thomas C. Bleckley , formerly of Clayton , Ga . and will be greatly missed by her sons ; Thomas Cole Bleckley and his wife Ginny of Greenwood , S.C. , Paul William Bleckley and his wife Linda of Spartanburg , S.C. , and her daughter Deborah Dickey and husband Jerry of St. Augustine , Fl. She is also survived by her grandchildren ; Andrew Bleckley , David Bleckley , Mark Bleckley and Allison Herschede and two great- grandchildren , Diana and Aiden Herschede .
Mrs. Bleckley was a charter member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church , an avid Bridge Player and devoted “Mom” to her cat , Squeaky .
Graveside services will be held 3 P.M. at Rabun Memory Park , Tiger , Ga. on Wednesday March. 4 , 2009 .
