Doris Holbrooks Welch

Doris Holbrooks Welch, age 78, passed away on July 17, 2023, in Lakemont, GA, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was born on January 31, 1945, in Rabun County to Frank Holbrooks and Alice Love Holbrooks.

Doris was a dedicated member of the Rabun County School system for many years, where she touched the lives of countless students. Her warmth and nurturing nature led the children to lovingly call her Granny Doris. Later in life, she retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Doris is survived by her children: Anita Welch, Tim Welch (Teresa Manley), and Tony Welch; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and close family also survive.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced once available.
