Dorothy “Dot” Greer, age 87, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Born on June 17, 1939, in Macon County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Arthur William and Sarah Mae Young. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha Littrell and Dixie Bramblett; brother, William Young; and son-in-law, Lee Dixon.
Dot was a woman of deep Christian faith that found great joy in singing and Gospel songs. Throughout a career spanning more than 50 years, Dot dedicated her life to caring for others through a variety of roles in healthcare. She had a genuine passion for serving people and touched countless lives with her compassion, kindness, and caring heart. Nothing brought Dot more happiness than spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She also enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially sitting down with a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper. Dot never passed up the chance for a good shopping spree with her daughters. She will be remembered for her servant’s heart and greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Olivia Dixon and Teresea Crowe (Bryan); son and daughter-in-law, Michael Cook (Julie); grandchildren: Bo Cook, Krista Cook, Katie Cook, Evan Dixon, Jessica Dixon, and Michael Dixon; several great-grandchildren; brother, James Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Rabun Memory Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the funeral home.
