Dorothy "June" Miles Hawkins

Dorothy “June” Miles Hawkins, age 89, of Lakemont, Georgia, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026.

She was born on December 22, 1936, to the late Walter W. Miles Sr. and Ruby Johnson Miles.

June was born and raised in Atlanta and began her working career with Coca-Cola. She later retired from Delta Air Lines, where she served as a Senior Claims Examiner and Manager. Her years with Delta gave her the opportunity to travel and see much of the world, creating many wonderful memories along the way.

She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed being part of book clubs. Although she was known for rarely finishing the books, she loved attending and spending time socializing with her friends. For June, the fellowship and friendships were just as important as the books themselves.

She is survived by her daughter, April Hawkins (Dale Davis); her sister, Rosemary Payne (Bill); and her loving cat, Cosette.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter W. Miles Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM with Rev. Doug Volk officiating in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home, located at 423 Warwoman Road, Clayton, GA 30525. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the service hour.

Burial will follow on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, located at 1680 Westview Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.
