It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Faron Welch, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend, who departed this life on August 4, 2025, at the age of 64.
Born on February 19, 1961, in Clayton, Georgia, Faron lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and the great outdoors. He was the beloved husband of Susan Welch for 45 years — a marriage built on deep love, trust, and unwavering devotion.
Faron graduated from Rabun County High School in 1979. He was an elite basketball star for the Rabun County Wildcats. Many of his classmates remain his cherished friends. After high school, Faron attended Piedmont College. He then went to work in the heavy equipment industry, where he built his lifelong business of Southards & Welch Construction.
Faron was a proud and devoted father to Jennifer Welch, April (David Adcock), Kelsey (Scott Thompson), and Josh Gragg (Louwanda). He was also a proud and devoted grandfather to Jaxon, Trace, Chantz, Knox, Miley, Johnathan, Micah, Adam, and Naomi. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family — offering wisdom, steady love, and countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.
A true outdoorsman, Faron was an avid deer hunter who found peace and purpose in the woods. The stillness of early mornings, the thrill of the hunt, and the bond shared with fellow hunters were among his greatest joys.
Faron will be remembered not only for what he did but for who he was: a man of strength, generous spirit, and unshakable loyalty. A good neighbor, a devoted friend, and a man of integrity and faith.
Faron is survived by his Aunt Squirrel (Carolyn Welch) and brothers Tony Welch and Mark Beck.
A celebration of Faron’s life will be held on August 8, 2025, at Blue Heights Baptist Church, with visitation from 12-2, and the service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Faron’s name to the Rabun County High School Athletic Department.
