Gaynell Stancil

Gaynell Simmons Stancil, 91, of Lakemont, GA passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Greenville, SC on August 5, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Dewey Simmons and Estelle Bayne. She lived most of her life and worked as a self-employed caregiver. She was a member at Lakemont Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Estelle Simmons, and her husband J. Melvin Stancil. She is survived by her son, Bobby Jo Stancil of Mt. Airy, GA, her daughters, Susan Groom of Lakemont, GA, Gail Stancil of Lakemont, GA and Sherry Michael (Stan) of Athens, GA and also by five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at Lakemont Baptist Church on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2:00pm with Rev. Jewell Gaines and Jim McGahee officiating.
