Geneva Ruth Kelly

Geneva "Ruth" Kelly, age 91, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023

Ruth was born November 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edward Whitaker Sr. and Myrtle Thomason Whitaker. She was married to Howard Kelly who passed away in 1976. Ruth spent her entire life playing music. She adored music, and she especially enjoyed playing the piano at the Flats of Middle Creek Baptist Church and going to the Top of Georgia Jamboree. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished spending time with her loved ones.

She is survived by three children, Mary Smith (Brady), Glenn Kelly, and Leeroy Kelly; seven grandchildren, Suzanne Newman (Matthew), Sarah Smith, Angel Kelly, Dalton Kelly, Chancey Smith (Ann), Damon Smith (Amanda), and Shannon Smith; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Whitaker. She is preceded in death by one grandchild, Rodney Ledbetter.

Visitation will be Friday, April 7th, 2023 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023, 2:00 PM at Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kelly Cemetery.
