Gerald Dean “Gerry” Keener, 70 of North Valley Street, Clayton, Georgia., died Sunday August 31, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Rabun County March 4, 1944, he was the son of the late Ed M. Keener and Kate Green Keener. He was the widower of Mary Messer Keener. Gerry was a carpenter by trade and was a member of Joy Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Eric Keener and by two brothers, Michael and Curtis Keener, and is survived by one son, Michael (Mickey) Keener (Michelle) of Clayton., two daughters, Cindy Ramey of Gainesville and Rebecca Hollifield of Clayton. Four brothers, Ronnie Keener, Elberton, GA., Steve Keener, Rabun Gap, Rev. David Green of Kentucky, Brownlow Green of Franklin, NC. Eight grandchildren, Michael Lovell, Erica Keener, Jane Mullis, Dalton Keener, Justin Ramey, Nichole Ramey, Emory Hollifield and Austin Hollifield. Four great grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 2:30 P.M. Sunday September 7, 2014 at Joy Baptist Church with Rev. David Green and Rev. Thomas Burrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday September 6, 2014. The family is at the home of his daughter, Rebecca Hollifield on Carpenter Lane, Clayton, Georgia.
