Geraldine Whitmire

Geraldine Whitmire, 74, of Tiger, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Born on August 7, 1951, in Rabun County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Numerous O. Marcus and Grace Lovell Marcus. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Whitmire.

Geraldine worked for many years at Dollar General and was known for her warm and friendly nature. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her family deeply. She found peace tending to her flowers and joy in watching the hummingbirds that visited her porch.

She is survived by two sons, Toby Whitmire of Rabun Gap, GA, and Todd Whitmire (Mary) of Tiger, GA; seven grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; her significant other, Buster Ledford; and three sisters, Carrina Carpenter, Vera Daphne Lockridge, and Willie Jean Jordan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Harold Marcus, Hastell Marcus, Delila Whitmire, Elgerene Westbrook, Lotha Gibson, and Karen Carpenter.

Services will be held at a later date.
