Gregory Calvin York

Gregory Calvin York, age 67, of Long Creek, South Carolina passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026.

Born on March 23, 1958 in Rabun County he is the son of Marcus Calvin York and Winnie Sue McClain York. He is survived by his wife Martha Jane Miller York.

Greg was a man who found great joy in the outdoors and in the company of those he loved. He especially enjoyed spending time on the Chattooga River, a place that brought him peace and happiness. Gregory was also a big music lover and enjoyed sharing that passion with family and friends.

He worked for Fluor Corporation (Fluor/Daniels) and later owned his own carpentry business, where he put his skills and craftsmanship to good use. In his free time, he loved working in his garden and spending time outdoors.

Above all, Gregory loved his family and was especially proud of being a grandfather. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Martha Jane Miller York; his son, Marcus Everette York (Kalia Sprouse); his daughter, Chelsey Marie York; his cherished grandchildren, Xander York, Tabetha Merck, Ava Eib, Atlas York, and Winnie Sue York; his best friend, Kevin Robertson; his brother, Tommy York (Kathy); and his sister, Suzanne York-Canada. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Victor York, and his nephews, Kristopher York and Michael York.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Hunter Funeral Home with Johnny York officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
