Hansel Ray Eller, age 78, of Seneca, South Carolina formerly of Clayton, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 at his residence.

Hansel was born December 18, 1944, in Clayton, Georgia, the son of Bennie Ray and Rosa Mae Eller. He was married to the love of his life, Gloria Chappell Eller for 51 years.  Hansel was raised in Rabun County and became a preacher early in life before he joined the United States Army in 1963. He was a Veteran who proudly served our country for three years during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and most of all he was the best husband that Gloria could have asked for.  He was a proud father of several cats and dogs over the years. He will be missed by his family and friends who loved his senses of humor, pranks and teasing his family.  Never met a stranger and was friends with everyone he met; gladly sacrificing to help others.

He is survived by his spouse Gloria Chappell Eller of Seneca, SC; three children, Hanselena Graves (Bryan) of Newberry, SC, April Yu (Jae) of Macon, GA, and Bryon Eller of Seneca, SC; two grandchildren, Jason Graves and Evan Graves of Newberry, SC; and two siblings, Cliffton Eller and Helen Crunkleton, several cousins. nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Ray and Rosa Mae Eller and six siblings, Robert Eller, Ester Qulliams, Evelyn Conley, Joyce Galloway, Bessie Turpin, and Jessie Shirley.

Visitation will be Friday, July 28th, 2023, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023, 11:00 AM at Black Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Puma and Rev. Michael Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Pickett Cemetery in Clayton. Pallbearers will be Marty Kilby, Austin Kilby, Tony Galloway, Sage Shirley, Michael Chappell, Sandy Keener and Kirk Payne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randall and Raymond Quillams.
