James Shirley

James Alfred Shirley, 81, of Shirley Grove Road, Clarkesville, Georgia., died Thursday February 20, 2014 in Highlands- Cashiers Hospital, Highlands, North Carolina.

Born in Rabun County, Georgia., June 15, 1932, he was the son of the late John Alfred Shirley and Mary Lee Holcomb Shirley. He was a rock mason by trade and was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Alfred was preceded in death, besides his parents, a sister, Thelma Elizabeth Smith and is survived by; two sons, Michael James Shirley (Carol) and John G. Shirley (Michele) both of Clarkesville, GA. Four daughters, Margaret Ann Rogers (Lowell), Mary Kathleen Spence, and Sarah Diane Jones (Stacy) all of Clayton and Debra Lynn Shirley Johnson (Scott) of Arvado, CO. Two Brothers, John Dewey Shirley, Lakemont, GA., and Joseph Dale Shirley of Wiley, GA. Four sisters; Evelyn Queen- Macon, GA., Martha Shelby Jean Garrett, Mt Airy, GA., Ellie Ruth Mullikin of Westminster, SC., and Sarah Genell Drymond of Clarkesville, GA. Ten Great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday February 22, 2014 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Wiley Presbyterian Cemetery.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Saturday February 22, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. (The funeral hour). The family is at their respective residences.
