James Bruce Shope

James Bruce Shope, 86, of Dillard, GA, died on Friday, June 28, 2024, after a prolonged illness.

Born on October 9, 1937, he was the son of Roy Shope and Ollie Leatherman Shope. Bruce was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He had a passion for automotive work and shared his knowledge as an automotive teacher at Rabun County High School. Additionally, he was the owner and operator of State Line Garage.

Bruce is survived by his son, James Shope (Sarah) of East Windsor, NJ; his daughter, Katrina Knapp (John) of Ocala, FL, and their son, John Knapp; his brothers, Jerry Shope and Gary Shope (Betty); several nieces and nephews; and Juanita Shope.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Shope and Ollie Leatherman Shope, and his two brothers, Dennis and Kent Shope.

Private graveside services will be held, and a celebration of life will be announced once arrangements are made.
