Jesse Jenkins

Jesse (Bud) James Jenkins, age 92, of Wiley, GA., passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018.

He was the son of the late James Condor and Elizabeth Pitts Jenkins. He was retired from the United States Navy, serving 22 years as a World War II and Korean veteran. Chief Jenkins was honored to be a participant of the October 28, 2014 Honor Flight group that traveled to Greenville, SC to the memorials at Washington, DC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Mabel Silva Jenkins, wife Georgia Thompson Jenkins, daughter Stacey Jenkins Welch, stepdaughter Karen Bellinger, sisters Grace Fincher, Willene Dunn, and Catherine Bleckley.

Jesse is survived by his daughter, Melodie (David) Wood of Clarkesville, GA.; son James (Cindy) Jenkins of Greenville, SC; stepdaughter Lana (Arthur) Phillips of Sylva, NC; son-in-law Ralph Welch of Mountain City, GA; grandchildren Stephanie (Robbie) Woelf of Watkinsville, GA; Matthew (Alisha) Wood of Melissa, TX; Jonathan (Kelli) Welch of Toccoa, GA; Jeremy Welch of Mountain City, GA; step granddaughters Tracey Stough; Christie Sexton Miller; Vickie (Jason) Grant; Amy (Tommy) Smith; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as his sister Joyce Cragg.

The family will receive friend at the Hunter Funeral Home on Monday April 16, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11:00AM, at his beloved Wiley Presbyterian Church. Reverends Denny Reed, Matthew Wood and Alice Wood will officiate.
