John Edward Houck passed into eternal rest with our Lord on September 8, 2026. He was born on February 11, 1983 in Pontiac, MI. He lived his life in the Warwoman Community of Clayton, GA. He was the son of Norman Houck and Rita Cecil Houck.
In John’s younger years, he attended St. Helena Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy. He grew up on Sandy Ford with a red bandana in his back pocket. John would spend his time driving an old Chevy with a blue heeler in the back or maybe riding a dirt bike to the river. He was a mechanic and a hard worker, but more often than not, with his servant heart, he would lend a helping hand to anyone. If you saw him along the way, you knew you would be met with a BIG smile!
Some of John’s favorite quotes were, “God can do anything,” “I was saved for real,” “They are good people,” and “I love you.”
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his siblings, Amanda Houck, Joseph Houck, and Martha Owens; three nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Lois Houck and James and Rita Cecil.
Services for John will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home, with Rev. Raymond Page officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will have a time of fellowship following the graveside service at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hunter Funeral Home, 423 Warwoman Rd. Clayton, GA 30525 or PO Box 653 Clayton, GA 30525. There has also been an account set up at Rabun County Bank in honor of John Houck.
