John Lloyd Mitchell

November 5, 1945 — April 24, 2016

John Lloyd Mitchell,70 , of Mt. City , Ga. died Sunday April 24 , 2016 in Franklin , N.C. He was born in Rabun County November 5, 1945 to the late Rockaway and Elzia McCall Mitchell.

Lloyd was employed in the carpentry industry and was a U.S. Army Veteran in the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jr. Mitchell and by four sisters , Hilda Hopper , Hazel Kilby , Patsy Alley and Blondine Barron and is survived by his wife , Allene Justice Mitchell of the home . One son , Stacy Mitchell (Celina) of Mt. City , two daughters , Lisa Patterson (Breck) of Rabun Gap, Ga. and Michelle Henslee (Kenny) of Rabun Gap , Ga. two brothers, Thomas Mitchell and Doug Mitchell of Clayton , Ga. Three sisters , Betty Jo Gibby , Marilyn Ballew and Beverly Mason of Clayton .Nine grandchildren , Kallen Henslee , Morgan Watts , Chan Patterson , Cylvie Patterson , Kinley Mitchell , Kaplan Mitchell , Kaden Mitchell , Braden Henslee and Kasen Mitchell ,one great grandchild , Emily Hensley and a host of nephews and nieces and cousins.

Funeral Services will be at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday April 26 , 2016 at the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey Conner and Rev. Gabe Southards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at Hunter funeral home and will be taken to Betty’s Creek Baptist Church Tuesday April 26 , 2016 where visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. (The funeral hour) . The family is at the home of his daughter and son – in – law , Lisa and Breck Patterson on Fawn Ridge Trail, Rabun Gap, Ga.
