Judy "Betty" Lewis Gragg Justus

Judy "Betty" Lewis Gragg Justus, age 91, of Clayton, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 16, 1934, in Rabun County to the late Hubert and Evelyn “Evans” Gragg. She was a 1952 graduate of Rabun County High School and a 1955 graduate of Piedmont College School of Nursing. Betty dedicated 46 years of service to Rabun County Memorial Hospital, serving as the Director of Nursing for 32 years. In 1998, she was honored as the inaugural Georgia Nurse of the Year, the first year the award was ever created. She also served on the Board of Rabun County Hospital and was a member of both the American Nurses Association and the Georgia Nurses Association. She was a graceful lady, deeply dedicated to her profession and a life of service.

Betty was a woman of profound faith and a devoted member of Clayton Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Ideal Fellowship Sunday School Class. She loved her family more than anything and especially cherished being called "Grandma Betty" by her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening, reading, and she loved her cats dearly.

She is survived by one son, Randy Justus and wife Susie; one grandchild, Austin Franklin and wife Brandy; two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Bayler Franklin; lifelong best friend, Gayle Smith; and a number of cousins and special friends. The family would like to thank a host of special caregivers for all their loving care, especially Cristie Parks, Celena Mitchell, and Kay York.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Watts and Rev. Michael Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Gerald Gragg and Anthony Worley speaking at the graveside service.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hunter Funeral Home, 423 Warwoman Rd. Clayton, GA 30525.
