Margaret Elizabeth Schoen

Margaret Elizabeth Schoen, 97, of Sherwood, AR, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on May 23, 2025.

She was born in Miami, FL, on June 2, 1927, to Claudia Mae Hopkins and John Daniel “J.D.” Bryant. Margaret attended Miami Edison High School through the 10th grade before marrying Herbert Dale Schoen of Miami on February 23, 1943. She later attended beautician school and, as a devoted homemaker, frequently provided haircuts and perms to family, friends, and neighbors.

In 1963, following the closure of her husband's employer, Margaret began working outside the home. She was employed by the Dade County Transit Department until her retirement, after which she relocated to Otto, NC.

Margaret had a deep love for the Lord and her family. She found joy in her flower garden, crocheting, sewing, watercolor painting, watching her dog, hummingbirds at the feeder, and serving others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dale Schoen; her son, Forrest Dale Schoen; and her granddaughter, Michelle DeeAnn Brake.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Monk of Indian Trail, NC, and Annice Bumpus of Sherwood, AR; her grandchildren, Cherilyn Long, Cheryl Marsh, Chuck Monk, Kevin Schoen, Bryant Bumpus, and Maggie Jane Brown; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Rabun County Church of Christ, 876 Bethel Road, Tiger, GA. Interment will follow immediately at the church cemetery.
