Martha Payne Gibson, 80 of Clayton, Georgia., died Monday October 2, 2017 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, GA.

Born in Commerce, Georgia., September 3, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Verner R. Payne and Linda Stockton Payne. She was the widow of Frank Gibson. She was a seamstress at Empire MFG. Company and was a member of Clayton Baptist Church.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Verner R. Payne and Linda Stockton Payne (Phillips) by her husband, Frank Gibson by a daughter, Deborah Rogers and by a brother, Owen Ray Payne and is survived by a son, Michael A. Payne of Clayton, three daughters, Kathy Baxley (Jamie) of Lexington, NC., Paula Vandergrift of Clayton, Angela Reece of Clayton., two brothers David Payne (Betty) of Clayton and Jerry Payne of Clayton., one sister, Shelby Frady (Talmadge) of Clayton. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday October 4, 2017 at the Persimmon Church of God by Rev. Teddy King. A private burial will be at a later date at Roane Cemetery. The family is at the home.

Family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made, in her memory, to Ronnie Green Heart Center, Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 743 Spring Street Gainesville, GA. 30501.
