It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martha Watts Queen, a devoted wife, cherished mother, and loving grandmother, who left this world to be with Jesus on August 12 at the age of 77.
Martha was born in Rabun County and grew up in Tiger. She lived a life full of faith, grace, kindness and quiet strength. She married the love of her life, Jim, on August 29, 1964, and together they built a life filled with love and lasting memories.
As a dedicated and nurturing mother, she raised her children, David and Kim with warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support. She was a woman of faith and taught her children (and grandchildren) about the Lord. Her grandchildren, Ivy and Lilly, brought her endless joy, and she delighted in every moment spent with them- sharing stories, visiting the beach, and offering her gentle guidance.
Martha worked as a parapro in the Rabun County School System for over 30 years where she touched the lives of many and left a legacy of love and integrity.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim; her children David and Kim(James); her grandchildren, Ivy and Lilly(Matt) and her great grandchild, Rowan.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Roy and Myrtice Watts and her brothers, Edgar and Glen Watts.
A graveside memorial service will be held on August 18, 2025 at 2:00 at Liberty Community Cemetery with Rev. Adam Wright officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Though she is no longer with us in body, Martha's love, laughter and example will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her.
