Mary Virginia Justus

Mary Virginia Justus, age 92, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, passed away peacefully on her birthday, May 19, 2026.

She was born on May 19, 1934, to the late Hershal Keener and Myrtle McCoy Keener. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray L. “Fate” Justus.

Virginia loved quilting, gardening, tending to her flowers, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church and loved her Lord dearly.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Valerie Speed of Rabun Gap, Beverly and Paul Phillips of Dillard, and Karen and Ross Alley of Rabun Gap; three grandchildren, Lucas and Nacoma Speed, Jesse Alley, and Nathan Alley; two great-grandchildren, Damen Phillips and Caleb Speed; and her brothers, William Keener, Quinten Keener, and Kermit Keener; and several nieces and one nephew.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Paula Phillips, and her brother, Jack Keener.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Ronia Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Persimmon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hunter Funeral Home.
