Michael Lloyd Speed

Michael Lloyd "Mike" Speed, age 70, of Clayton, GA, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Born on December 7, 1955, in Clayton, GA, he was the son of the late J.P. and Mary Grace Speed.

Mike was a good man, a devoted father, and someone who loved his family deeply. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in nature and cherished living on Warwoman. Throughout his life, he worked in logging, at a sawmill, and in carpentry—occupations that reflected his strong work ethic and appreciation for hard work. Mike was a loyal friend, a caring father, and a person who touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Cory Speed (Tammy); grandchildren, Austin Wade, Cassy McDonald (Christian), Chassity Speed, Jacob Speed, Jasmine Speed, Jonathan Lovell, Reuel Estelle (Brittany), and Carol Estelle; great-grandchildren, Isabella Speed, Larena Geovani, Jalissia, Damian, Kehlani, Marlaya, Avion, Samuel Wade, Ember McDonald, and J.P. Estelle; sisters, Judy O’Shields (Jeff) and Deborah Page (Raymond); brother, Johnny Speed; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Omiani Nieves, and his brothers, Donny Ray Speed and James Speed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brian Pratt for the care and compassion he provided to Mike throughout the years.
