Michael Lloyd Speed

Michael Lloyd Speed, of Clayton, GA, passed away on June 2nd, 2026 at the age of 70.

Born on 12/07/1955 in Clayton, GA, Mike was a man who truly loved the outdoors and working with his hands. He was happiest when he was surrounded by nature, whether he was hunting, fishing, camping, or hiking. An incredibly talented craftsman, Mike found great joy in foraging and forging, and he was known for his unique skill of building beautiful, custom walking sticks from twisted branches he found in the woods.

He would spend hours picking wild grapes to make homemade jams to sell at the flea market on the weekends. He was a stellar mechanic and even taught himself taxidermy.

He was a beloved father who brought strength, wisdom, and creativity into our lives. Mike’s rugged spirit, patience, and passion for creating things from scratch will be deeply missed but never forgotten by those who loved him.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, sons, Cory Speed (Tammy), Manuel Amarillas (Jeannie), daughter, Dorine Parks (Jody); his grandchildren, Christopher Speed, Skyler Speed (Danny), Austin Wade, Cassy McDonald (Christian), Chassity Speed, Jacob Speed, Jasmine Speed, Jonathan Lovell, Reuel Estelle (Brittany), and Carol Estelle, Anthony Villagomez, Rodolfo Villagomez “Jr” (Donna), Veronica Amarillas, Kaydence Amarillas, Sara Amarillas, Michael Amarillas, Alex Amarillas; great-grandchildren Isabella Speed, Larena, Geovani, Jalissia, Damian, Kehlani, Marlaya and Avion Nieves, Samuel Wade, Ember McDonald, and J.P. Estelle, Tony Villagomez, Rodolfo Villagomez III “Rudy”, Ezekiel Villagomez “Zekey” Ayzley Villagomez, Cylina Raine & Oaklynn Mae; sisters, Judy O’Shields (Jeff) and Deborah Page (Raymond); brother, Johnny Speed; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mike was preceded by two sons, Michael Robinson & Leo Robinson; one great-granddaughter, Omiani Nieves; and brothers Donny Ray Speed and James Speed.

A private memorial service to honor Michael's life and legacy will be held by his loved ones on Sunday June 7th @ 3pm, 203 Dunlap St. Clayton, Ga. 30525.
