Richard Jefferson Hamby, age 76, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Richard spent over three decades helping keep the lights on at the Tallulah Falls Hydroelectric Plant, retiring after 35 years with Georgia Power. A devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan, he was just as well known for his sharp mind and his love for a lively political discussion. He cared deeply about the direction of the country and was never one to shy away from sharing his perspective on the state of the nation.
He is survived by one son, Richard Jefferson Hamby Jr., and his wife, Sarah; and two grandchildren, Jackson Palmer Hamby and Holden Samuel Hamby. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents he is preceded by one sister, Lorraine Corbin.
No formal services are planned at this time. Hunter Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Richard Jefferson Hamby.
