Robert Charles Watson , 81 , of Dillard , Georgia passed away at home after a long illness on October 7 , 2008 . He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 25 , 1927 in Frankfort , Kentucky to Robert and Elsie Watson. He attended St. Bernard’s Academy , Middlesboro High School , Lincoln Memorial University , and he graduated from Eastern New Mexico State College. He then served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War . He was Director of Law Enforcement for the State Department of Motor Transportation in Kentucky ; he was appointed Deputy Director of the Department of Aeronautics, Regional Manager in International Sales with Cessna Aircraft , International Sales Manager for the Pacific and the Far East with Piper Aircraft . He was an Honorary Member of the Kentucky Colonels, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus , and a member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed his travels of both through work and pleasure and made many friends around the world .
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years , Clara Watson and their six children , Cynthia Watson , Rebecca ( Kim) Wasilewski , Kathie (Wayne)Braswell, Marguerite (Jack) Davis , Mark (Karen) Watson , Elizabeth (Rick) Ottinger , nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren .
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Helena’s Building fund , 451 Warwoman Rd. , Clayton , Ga . 30525 .
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, October 10 , 2008 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church , Clayton , Ga.
