Sarah Anne Lee

Sara Anne Lee was born at Crawford Long Hospital of Atlanta on March 20, 1936. One of three children, she grew up in Decatur, GA where she attended Glen Haven Elementary before going on to graduate from Avondale High School in June 1955.
She met her first husband Willie Cash while still in school. They married shortly after graduation and lived in Decatur. She later married her second husband, William F. Ivey, and moved to Fort Worth, Texas. She lived there for three and a half years before returning to Georgia.
In October 1998, Sara Anne moved to Lakemont with her late mother, Margaret E Lee. She found much joy in her Angel Garden and the Great Smokey Mountains, in which she had dreamed of living for so long.
As an adult, Sara went to work at Havertys’ Furniture as a file clerk and switchboard operator before shifting to a position as a book keeper at the First National Bank in Atlanta. She later moved onto a position as a receptionist and switch board operator for Scottsdale Mills, and then later as a secretary for Airway Hydraulics.
Sara attended Glen Haven Pres with her mother and father. Upon turning sixteen, she joined Glen Haven Baptist Church, where she was active in teaching Sunday school and participating in the choir. Additionally, she later became a member of the Christian Fellowship Church for several years, before joining her final church home to which she now belongs, Wiley Presbyterian.
As an inspirational role model, Sara believed life began at fifty years old. She pursued a passion in photography while enjoying travel, art, dancing, and antiquities. During this time, Sara took over Magazine Dixie Business for three years, a business previously owned by her late father, Hubert Floyd Lee.
While being a proactive member of her community, Sara belonged to many organizations including: The Secretary Club, Rolls Royce Club, PBX Club, Ad Club, Georgia Professional Photographer Association, North GA Art Guild, Red Hats Society, Tiger Homemakers, and Clayton Homemakers.
Sara Anne Lee lived a fascinating and inspirational life. She impacted every person she came in contact with and as a final wish she requests a portion of her ashes to be spread at the small marker between the gravesites of her late father, Hubert Floyd Lee, and grandfather, John Thomas Lee. The rest is to be spread throughout the mountains.
Sara Anne is survived by her two daughters Alecia Lee Cash Nix of Rutledge, GA and Tresia Ann Stephens Towry of Douglasville, GA. Furthermore, she leaves behind seven grandchildren: Benjamin Stephens, Daniel Stephens, Alexis Stephens, Clay Nix, Caitlyn Nix, Caleb Nix, and Michon Stanley. Additionally, eight great-grandchildren: Makinzi, Daniel Weyman, Jeremiah, Landon, Colton, Carson, Ledger, and Carly.
The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 4, 2021 at Wiley Presbyterian Church of Wiley Georgia. Visitation will be at 1 pm in the fellowship hall.
