Thomas Ray Dodgins

Thomas Ray Dodgins, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 68, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 1, 1957, to the late Arthur and Ruth Dodgins.

Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera Dodgins, who passed away in 2024.

A loving and humble man who would share the gospel with anyone he came across, Thomas deeply cherished time spent with his family. He had a great love for exploring and looking for new fishing spots. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the majestic elk that roamed freely through the scenic mountains of North Carolina.

Thomas is survived by his daughter, April Webb, and her husband, Matt; his son, Matthew Dodgins-Malone, and his husband, Michael; and his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Stewart, Annie Webb, Emily Webb, and Rachel Webb. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Dodgins and Don Dodgins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn Holt, Joyce Duvall, Pamela Hayes, and Norris Dodgins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home, with Pastor Adam Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Powell Gap Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, July 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home.
