Virgil Lee Kilby passed away July 6, 2018.
Virgil was born , November 28, 1928 in Rabun County Georgia he was the son, of the late Marvin and Ellen Parker Kilby.
He was preceded in death besides his parents, by his wife of 69 years Jessie Faye Ritchie Kilby., one sister, Jeannette Mullinburg and is survived by two sons, Dale (Jody) Kilby of Mountain City, GA., and Eddie Kilby of Rabun Gap, GA., two sisters, Joan Cunningham of Clayton and Geraldine McMahon of Seneca, SC., one brother, Johnny Kilby of Mountain city, GA., five grandchildren six great grandchildren and one very special sister in-law Grace Watts., several nephews and nieces also survive.
He owned and operated Kilbys Transmission in Hapeville, Georgia. From 1962 – 1989 He served on Forrest Park City Council for six years, served as Clayton County Commissioner four years served on Morrow city council for nine years served on Rabun County Commission for eight years., served on the Board of Directors of CBT Bank and was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church. Virgil was very civic minded and served his communities well.
Funeral Services will be at Battle Branch Baptist Church Monday July 9, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Madison Mccrackin and Rev. Danny Cannon officiating. The body will be Cremated following the service and a private burial will be held at at a later date.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to the Battle Branch Baptist Church where family will receive friends Monday July 9, 2018 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. (The Funeral Hour). The family is at the home on John Beck Dockins Road Rabun Gap, Georgia.
