Valarie & Luna Welch

d. November 4, 2023

Franklin, NC

Valarie, age 27, and Luna Rae Welch, age 4, passed away on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, along with their loving dogs Buddy and Kova.

Valarie was born on October 25, 1996, she was a loving wife and mother. She had a deep love for hiking and the great outdoors. Going on nature adventures with her family and introducing her children to the wonders of the natural world brought her immense joy. The moon and the stars were a wonder she couldnt get enough of. She was a loving soul, who was immune to judgment, and determined to live the life she wanted. She picked up the slack with no hesitation, and was there for anyone who needed her. Val is a literal life saver.  Her effect on this earth is permanent,  and she lives on, in the memories of her incredibly close friends, and family.

Luna was born on July 23, 2019, and she was the light of the family. She enjoyed playing with bubbles, chalk and being outdoors. When outdoors she was constantly pointing out the beauty in it, mushrooms, flowers, tadpoles, anything. She had recently caught her first couple fish, which she looked forward to for too long.  Despite her stubbornness, she was so smart she had all shapes, colors, and letters of the alphabet down pat. She craved knowledge subconsciously, and always wanted to understand how anything worked, even though she thought the moon was always following her. She loved her mommy more than anything.

Valarie was survived by her loving husband of six years, Forrest Welch, one son, Silas Welch, parents, Johnny, and Lynn Billingsley; four sisters, Tiffany Burrows and husband Rob, Kalyn Nichols and husband Jeffrey, Kelsie Garrett and husband Walker, and Lilly Billingsley; grandmothers, Betty Lakey and Virginia Billingsley; and mother and father in love, Jennifer and Bo Welch; she was preceded in death her grandfathers, Dane Lakey and Juan Billingsley.

Luna was survived by her daddy, Forrest Welch, her little brother, Silas Welch, grandparents, Johnny and Lynn Billingsley, Bo and Jennifer Welch, and Matt DeByle, great grandparents, Debbie Brown, Bobby and Annette Welch, Betty Lakey and Virginia Billingsley, aunts and uncles, Tiffany Burrows, Kalyn Nichols, Kelsie Garrett, Lilly Billingsley, Weston Welch (Bailey), Kerrigan Welch and Jordan DeByle; Luna was with her mother when they passed together, Valarie Welch; and preceded by her great grandparents, Gordon Brown, Dane Lakey and Juan Billingsley.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 8th, at 3:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service.

Valarie and Luna were so pure and loving, the world is so much dimmer now without them.
